Disclosure Policy

The Home Life {and Me} is a blog created, written, maintained, and edited by me (Lisa Morosky).

My first and foremost priority is my readers. Because of that, I’ve provided this disclosure policy so you know exactly where I stand. Please keep in mind that this policy is subject to change at any time, and a link to it can be found at the bottom of every blog post, on select pages, and at the bottom of the website, in the footer.

This disclosure policy also applies to my contributors and anyone who guest posts on The Home Life {and Me}.

Comments on this blog are moderated. The following types of comments will not be approved:

  • Comments that use profanity
  • Comments with inappropriate URLs
  • Comments that involve any sort of hate speech or highly offensive material
  • Comments that are clearly spam and are simply looking to drop a link on the blog

This blog fosters real, dynamic, intriguing discussions, that are suitable for viewers of all ages. The above-mentioned behavior will not be tolerated. Please play nice.

As the owner of this blog, it’s important for me to state this clearly: I do make money from this website. My sources of income are display advertising, affiliate links, free products, advertising sales, product sales, and sales of my services.

In reference to affiliate links, I’m an affiliate for a variety of products and services. You can assume that if I recommend a product or service to my readers, I am an affiliate (and thereby making a small commission for recommending the product or service) for it. That may not be the case 100% of the time – but let’s just assume it is. Also, these affiliate links can be found in blog posts, in blog pages, on my Facebook Fan Page, in my Twitter links, on my Pinterest boards, and basically anywhere I may post. You’re not obligated to use my affiliate links, but I sure appreciate it if you do – affiliate links help to support the work I do here at The Home Life {and Me}.

I’m No Expert

I’m not a doctor or health professional (though I’m married to one, if that means anything to you), lawyer, professional chef, financial expert, or counselor (nor do I play one on TV). I have a passion for a lot of topics, and what I share is the sum of my own research, experiences, and opinions. Therefore, any action you take based on any information you find here is at your own risk and I am not liable for the outcomes.

Take my opinions with a grain of salt, and do your own research.

Even though I receive free products for product reviews and giveaways, commissions for affiliate products, payment for sponsored posts, etc – I always give my honest opinion, findings, beliefs, or experiences.

I will only stick my name behind products or services I believe in, based on my experiences. I’m watching out for my readers. I take that responsibility seriously.

However, the views and opinions expressed on this blog belong purely to me (or the author, in the case of posts by contributors or guest posters). Any product claim, statistic, quote, or other representation about a product, service, or idea should be verified with the manufacturer, provider, or party in question. I’m only human.

Banner Advertisements

I do allow sponsors to advertise on this blog via banner advertisements. The only place you will find banner advertisements on this blog is on the sidebar (on the homepage, on single posts, and on archive pages) under the Sponsors section.

Product Reviews and Giveaways

I do post product reviews and giveaways on this website. All product opinions are my own (as mentioned above) based on my use and research of the product.

Here are the standard giveaway policies on this website (all giveaway rules and information will also be posted on each individual giveaway as well):

  • Giveaways on this website are open to US residents only.
  • Giveaways on this websites are open to those who are 18 or older only.
  • Each person may enter each giveaway only once for the duration of the giveaway.
  • To enter a giveaway, all you must do is submit the entry form (enter your name and email address). Sometimes you just need to enter your name and email address. Other times you may need to enter your name, email address, and complete another task (answer a question, sign-up for an email newsletter, etc). Everything mentioned on the entry form is mandatory. I do not offer optional giveaway entries.
  • Giveaways are posted on Thursdays and winners are chosen on the following Tuesdays.
  • Giveaway winners are chosen via Random.org. I enter the number of completed entries into the generator, and the computer spits out an applicable number. I repeat that process for giveaways with multiple winners.
  • Winners are notified via email. If the winner doesn’t respond to my email within 48 hours of it being sent, a new winner is chosen via the method above. This will keep going until a winner is verified.
  • After the giveaway has been closed and all winners have responded, I will update the original blog post with a message about the giveaway being closed. If you weren’t ever contacted, you can assume you did not win.

There are four situations and circumstances in which I may do a product review and/or giveaway. They are:

  • A company has given me a free product for the purpose of reviewing it and/or doing a giveaway.
  • I have purchased a product, decided to post a review of it, and I’ve reached out to the company to do a giveaway in conjunction with my review.
  • I have purchased a product and decided to post a review and giveaway on my own (thus funding the giveaway myself).
  • I have purchased a product and decided to post a review.

All product reviews and giveaways will be marked with one of the following disclaimers at the end of the post, noting which circumstance above is taking place:

  • [COMPANY NAME] provided me with [ITEM(S)] to review and [ITEM(s)] to giveaway. Beyond the free product(s) I evaluated in order to complete this review, I was not compensated in any way. All opinions are my own.
  • I purchased [ITEM(S)] as a consumer, and then contacted [COMPANY NAME] to do a giveaway of [ITEM(S)]. I was not compensated in any way – money, products, or otherwise – to do this product review and giveaway, and all opinions are my own.
